In the cold winter you want to be sure that your child’s outerwear is keeping them warm and dry. Other vital considerations are reflective details and garments that will stand up to lots of outdoor fun and games! Use our coverall guide to find the best snowsuit for your child this winter.

FACTORS TO BEAR IN MIND WHEN CHOOSING A COVERALL FOR YOUR CHILD

Size

Measure your child’s height and chest/waist in accordance with the size. If your child is between two sizes in height, choose the smaller size and use our Extend Size function as needed. By unpicking the relevant seams, you can extend the legs and sleeves by 5 cm.

Fit

A good fit in the right size will let your child play unimpeded. Avoid buying a coverall that is too large to move around in easily, to not get cold if they can’t jump and run around. If the legs are too long, your child may trip over the fabric and the rear hems may wear through. Do not buy a coverall that is too small either. When standing up in their coverall, there should be fabric to spare in the crotch area, to stretch their arms up or squat without uncomfortable pulling.

Warmth

To adjust the warmth level, we recommend using the layering principle for your child. This provides warmth from the air that heats up between layers, and if they get too hot, you can simply remove a layer. A fleece jacket is perfect for wearing under a coverall, and if the temperature drops further, you can add a base-layer underneath.

Extend Size

Our Extend Size function enables the sleeve and leg length of a garment to be extended by up to one size. If you carefully unpick the relevant seams – hey presto, your child can wear their coverall for another year!

Reflective details

During the darker months you can never have too many reflectors on your clothing. Our coveralls with all their reflective details are great in this respect, but you still always need to be careful and ideally use LED safety bands or similar when out in the dark.

Name tags

Outgrown but still as good as new? Our coveralls have name tags with space for several names so that they can be passed or sold on to a younger sibling, a young cousin, a school friend or someone else.

Waterproof

Snow, sleet and horizontal rain – wet, wet, wet. Our coveralls have taped seams and a PFC-free water-repellent finish that will keep your child dry in all weathers. If the water-repellent finish becomes less effective over time, iron gently as per the care instructions to reactivate it.

Detachable hoods

Child safety is our primary concern. Our detachable hoods are a safety feature to avoid accidents if the hood gets caught up somehow while playing. Moreover, it can be nice to go without a hood on days when the weather is a little warmer.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE DIDRIKSONS FOR YOUR CHILD

In addition to the quality and design of the garment, it can be reassuring to know that we are also working on the following elements in our design and manufacturing process to improve sustainability.

PFC-free water-repellent finish

The water-repellent finish on our garments is completely PFC-free, which means that it is free from environmentally harmful fluorocarbons. Such perfluorinated chemicals have a negative effect on health and the environment, are hormone-disrupting and non-biodegradable.

Extend Size function

Our coveralls are designed to be extended by up to one size as needed. By unpicking the relevant seams on the inside of the garment to lengthen the legs and/or sleeves, you can extend its useful life.
